WHY PLANT MORE TREES IN ANDERSON MILL?

Did you know that ⅓ of Central Texas’ tree canopy was damaged during the ice storm of 2023?

Another fact: Anderson Mill is a “high-need” area according to the City of Austin’s Tree Priority Map. Many areas of our neighborhood do not have enough tree canopy. There are vast swaths of grass with no shade in our community. This leads to higher temperatures in our neighborhood.

According to One Tree Planted, trees help in various ways including:

  • Lower temperatures and a reduced “heat island” effect
  • Improved air quality
  • Neighborhood beautification and stress reduction among residents
  • Increased property values
  • Wildlife habitat
  • Sound reduction

If you’re not already a member of the Anderson Mill Neighborhood Association (AMNA), please join for $20 / household / year. Along with planting trees, we host both social and informational community events to benefit residents. We are volunteer-led. All funds go back to building a closer community one neighbor at a time.

We are always looking for residents to serve on committees. If you are interested please contact communications@andersonmillna.org.
